About Frost Goalers

Frost Goalers is an independent editorial index of hotels, organised by kind rather than by destination. It covers four categories — art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — with four properties in each, drawn from Europe, Asia and North America.

Why categories instead of countries

Sorting hotels by city produces long lists in which a capsule hotel and a grand dame sit next to each other with nothing in common. Sorting by kind produces something more useful: a set of comparisons within a format, where the differences that matter actually show up. A reader who knows they want to spend a night in a carved ice room is better served by four ice hotels described properly than by a hundred hotels in one country.

How properties are chosen

Each category is capped at four. That limit is the editorial discipline of the site — it forces an argument about what the category is for, and it leaves room to write about each property at length. The casino category has a fixed roster that does not rotate. The other three are reviewed periodically, and a property is replaced only when there is a clear reason, not for the sake of movement.

How entries are written

Every entry is prose. There are no specification tables, no scores and no bullet-point summaries standing in for a description. We write about where a hotel stands, how the building came to be what it is, what the rooms are like and what a stay involves. Details that date quickly — prices, room counts, seasonal opening — are deliberately left to the hotels, who publish them accurately and update them daily.

What this site is not

Frost Goalers does not take bookings, hold inventory or act as an agent for any property. It publishes no user reviews and no star ratings, and it has no commercial relationship, affiliate arrangement or sponsorship deal with any hotel named on the site. If that ever changes, it will be stated plainly on the page in question.

Corrections

Hotels change hands, renovate, close wings and reopen them. If something here is out of date or simply wrong, we would rather know. Write to us through the contact page and the entry will be checked and corrected.
